Tech Tour is returning to Italy to host the 4th edition of the Italian Tech Tour, from the 11-12 of September in Rome. The event will showcase Italy’s fast-growing technology scene, provide insight into Italy’s favourable investment conditions, and facilitate connections between local and global investors, corporates, SMEs and governmental bodies.

The event is being co-lead by Presidents Marco Trombetti, Founder & CEO of Translated.net, leading provider of professional translations online and VC fund Pi Campus, and Pietro Strada, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Silverpeak technology investment banking.

Many success stories have emerged out of Italy over the past 10 years, including several featured at previous Tech Tour events such as Octo Telematics, Italy’s first billion-dollar valuated unicorn company, who are disrupting the insurance industry through the application of advanced telematics systems. 15 start-ups from previous editions of the Italian Tech Tour already went IPO or have been acquired. These success stories and entrepreneurs are now helping to support Italy’s entrepreneurs by becoming investors themselves and supporters of the event, including this year’s event Co-President Marco Trombetti and Octo Telematics who hosted the 2016 and 2017 editions.

The preliminary event programme will include 28 start-up and company presentations from Italian companies in ICT, Life Sciences, luxury tech, food tech and energy, looking for seed to series-A funding rounds. Italy today presents a great opportunity for international investment with greater tax breaks for CEOs, more sources of funding available, and more flexibility in setting up companies. Hidden gems in Italy combined with a smaller pool of investors means there is a great opportunity available for international investors, and already US players have a high interest in bringing companies to the next level, as confirmed by the activities started in the country by enterprises such as Apple, Facebook and Google, and the recent interest in Italian start-ups by international accelerators such as Startupbootcamp and 500Startups.

Co-President Pietro Strada says: “Italy is today a great opportunity for international tech investors. Even if under-covered by international funds in the past, things are rapidly changing and some smart-money has already realised this opportunity. We are proud to present at the Italian Tech Tour in Rome 28 of the best series-A internet companies there are nowadays on the Italian ecosystem.
