Multiverse Computing’s $570M Series C Signals a New Era for European AI

Europe’s AI race is entering a new phase, one defined not only by powerful models but by efficient, secure and sovereign AI infrastructure. Those themes will take centre stage at Tech Tour AI & Trust Systems 2026 (Lausanne, Sept 23-24), where Europe’s leading founders, investors and corporates will explore the technologies shaping the continent’s competitive future. Few companies illustrate that transformation better than Multiverse Computing, which will be featured on the speaker programme in Lausanne.

Fresh from one of Europe’s largest AI funding rounds with a $570 million Series C, and recognised as both an EIC Scaling Club success story and the 2026 Digital Growth Award Winner at Tech Tour Growth50 Europe, Multiverse Computing has become one of the continent’s fastest-rising AI champions. In this exclusive interview, Co-Founder & CEO Enrique Lizaso explains why Europe’s competitive advantage lies in efficiency, trust and sovereignty, how the company’s breakthrough AI optimisation technology is reshaping the economics of AI, and what Europe must do to build the next generation of globally leading AI companies.

TT: Your recent $570 million Series C funding round is one of Europe's largest AI investments. What does this milestone enable that wasn't possible before, and where will it have the greatest impact?

EL: This funding round, targeting up to $570 million and backed by commitments from investors including Forgepoint Capital, BNP Paribas SIVF, Bullhound Capital, Santander, HP, Orange Ventures and others, enables us to scale efficient AI globally. We will expand our compressed model library, accelerate R&D and build sovereign AI infrastructure, helping enterprises and governments deploy powerful AI securely, with lower costs, lower energy use and less dependence on hyperscalers.

TT: Multiverse Computing has joined the consortium behind Spain's AI Gigafactory — a major milestone for European AI. What does this project mean for Europe's competitiveness and AI sovereignty?

EL: This consortium is a statement that Spain wants to compete at the frontier of AI infrastructure, not just consume it. We are a technology partner alongside Telefónica, ACS, Santander, the Government of Catalonia and the Government of Spain, contributing our AI software stack for data-centers: optimized AI models, GPU orchestration, AI services and sovereignty controls. For Europe, that matters because AI sovereignty isn’t just about where servers sit; it’s about who controls the software layer running on them. This infrastructure gives Spanish and European universities, SMEs and public institutions compute capacity they don’t have to rent from someone else’s cloud outside Europe.

TT: Multiverse Computing will be speaking at Tech Tour AI & Trust Systems 2026 alongside leading investors and founders. What qualities will define Europe's next generation of globally successful AI companies?

EL: The ones that win will build for the world, not just for a home market, global ambition from the first term sheet. And they’ll know how to partner at the industrial scale, which this Gigafactory consortium shows is possible, real innovation won’t stay locked inside a lab, it’ll ship fast, get into production, and keep iterating in the open with real customers.

TT: AI leadership is no longer just about compute, but about efficiency, trust and sovereignty. Where can Europe build a lasting competitive edge?

EL: We will not out-spend the US or China on raw silicon or software investment, that race is already decided. Europe’s edge is doing more with less: creating optimized AI models so they run on a fraction of the hardware, and building systems that regulated industries can actually trust and audit. At Multiverse Compuiting we create optimized AI models that require half of the infrastructure to run on, meaning 50% less costs, that’s the kind of efficiency gain that turns a compute disadvantage into a non-issue. Pair that with Europe’s head start on AI governance and you get a real edge: infrastructure that’s cheaper to run, easier to certify, and fully under European control end to end.

TT: What's the one thing Europe still needs most to turn world-class AI research into world-leading AI businesses?

EL: Growth capital that stays in Europe past Series A. We have the research, we increasingly have the technology,  what we lose too often is the company, when it has to go abroad for its Series B or C. We need to get large European funds and public investors co-investing alongside VCs, on actual big funding rounds like elsewhere in the world. Do that consistently, and Europe stops exporting its best AI companies before they scale.

TT: Multiverse Computing is an EIC Scaling Club success story — how have the Club and the Tech Tour community supported your success?

EL: We were selected in 2024 as one of the first companies into the EIC Scaling Club, the European Innovation Council‘s curated network of top deep-tech scale-ups, run in partnership with Tech Tour, Bpifrance, Hello Tomorrow, Tech.eu, EurA and IESE. What that community gave us wasn’t funding, it was access: fundraising support, mentoring from people who’d scaled deep tech before, matchmaking with corporate partners, and visibility we couldn’t have bought. That network of investors and operators around Tech Tour has been part of the story that took us from a promising quantum-inspired AI startup to a $570 million Series C and a European sovereign-AI infrastructure partner. It is exactly the kind of ecosystem Europe needs more of.
