Their HydroWing platform is designed to provide cost-effective, scalable energy from tidal currents, while the company also offers engineering and consultancy services for offshore renewable projects.
Kāhu SiliconBio, a spinout from the University of Edinburgh, develops innovative biohybrid sensors for detecting trace chemicals in liquids. By interfacing microorganisms with silicon chips, they create ultra-sensitive, fast devices that generate an electrical signal proportional to chemical concentration. The technology has applications in aquaculture, environmental monitoring, diagnostics, and bioprocessing.
MiWire has developed the patented RouDem solution, providing faster and more stable internet access in areas with weak mobile signal. Using a SIM card and subscription, RouDem automatically connects to the mobile network via a directional antenna that adjusts for optimal signal strength. MiWire is also introducing a maritime version with gyro-stabilized antennas and global data plans, along with future mobile solutions for vehicles, protected by an additional patent.
Subdron specializes in autonomous underwater inspections using advanced navigation and imaging technology. Their proprietary Relative Object Navigation (RON) enables high-resolution, close-range scanning of underwater structures like ship hulls and port walls. By automating data collection and analysis, Subdron enhances efficiency and safety in maritime infrastructure maintenance.
Swedish Algae Factory cultivates diatoms and extracts their natural shells, branded as Algica®, which offer unmatched light-manipulating and filtering properties. Algica is used by ~50 paying customers in personal care, with 300+ others testing it. It has shown strong results in wound care, membranes, solar panels, and batteries. A large-scale factory is operational on Sweden’s west coast, and they are raising €6M to reach profitability.
TERGY SAGAVA is a Copenhagen-based startup focused on decarbonizing the maritime industry. They use a carbon-negative process to produce sustainable biofuels from biogenic waste, providing a solution to replace fossil fuels in both new and existing vessels. Their technology contributes to a cleaner, net-zero future for shipping.
