The European Technology Platform Photonics21 unites the majority of the leading photonics industries and relevant R&D stakeholders along the whole economic value chain throughout Europe. Today Photonics21 has more than 2500 members. Photonics21 aims to establish Europe as a leader in the development and deployment of photonics technologies wihtin the various applications fields such as ICT, lighting, industrial manufacturing, life science, safety as well as in education and training.The ETP Photonics21 coordinates photonics research and innovation priorities and provides input to the European research framework programme Horizon 2020.

ACTPHAST 4.0

ACTPHAST 4.0

ACTPHAST 4.0 supports and accelerates the innovation capacity of European companies by providing them with direct access to the expertise and state-of-the-art facilities of Europe's leading photonics research centres (the ACTPHAST 4.0 Partners), enabling companies to exploit the tremendous commercial potential of applied photonics. There are 24 research institutes who together make up the ACTPHAST 4.0 Partners. Together the ACTPHAST 4.0 Partners provide a full spectrum of photonics technology platforms ranging from fibre optics and micro optics, to highly integrated photonic platforms (7 technology platforms in all), with capabilities extending from design through to full system prototyping. ACTPHAST 4.0 operates as an open call to all European companies (big and small, but particularly targeted at SMEs) so they can avail of timely, cost-effective, and low risk photonics innovation support, and that the extensive range of capabilities within the consortium can impact across a wide range of industrial sectors and application domains, from communications to consumer-related products, and life sciences to industrial manufacturing.

ICFO - The Institute of Photonic Sciences (www.icfo.eu) is a research center located in a specially designed, 14.000 m2-building situated in the Mediterranean Technology Park in the metropolitan area of Barcelona. It currently hosts 400 people, including research group leaders, post-doctoral researchers, PhD students, research engineers, and staff, organized in 26 research groups working in 60 state-of-the-art research laboratories, equipped with the latest experimental facilities and supported by a range of cutting-edge facilities for nanofabrication, characterization, imaging and engineering. ICFOnians have secured 15 ICREA Professorships, 31 European Research Council grants and 6 Fundació Cellex Barcelona Nest Fellowships, and the institute consistently appears in top worldwide positions in international rankings measuring research excellence. To date, ICFO has helped launch 6 start-up companies.

Fotónica21, the Spanish Technology Platform for Photonics, unites the vast majority of the relevant companies, research groups and stakeholders in the Spanish R&D photonics community, along the whole photonics industry value chain. It is an open and participative forum to promote the dialog among the science and technology, with the ultimate goal to promote a sustainable growth of the photonics sector at the national level. Fotónica21 serves as an unified voice of the sector regarding the technology offer, opportunities, and the needs in terms of research, development, training, funding and investment. The organization is structured in thematic working groups, four oriented to the application fields (TICs, Production Technologies, Life Science&Medicine, Displays&Lighting) and three cross-cutting activities (Sensors&Security, Photonic Systems and Training).

SECPhO is a cluster formed by companies, technology centers and research groups oriented to promote technological innovation through the application of photonic technologies, or light-based technologies, to all types of sectors of our economy. Photonic technologies, or technologies based on light, we can include them in the following groups: Sensors, scanning and image systems Laser systems Communication systems, networks and data transmission Advanced lighting Screens and displays Photovoltaic energy systems SECPhO is mainly oriented to the following sectors of the economy: Health, Agri-Food, Automotive, Advanced Manufacturing, Energy and Environment, Rail, Aerospace, Defense and Security, Telecommunications, Construction, Scientific Facilities and R & D centers.

ECOP (European Centres for Outreach in Photonics) is a long-standing partnership of European research and innovation centres passionate about the underlying areas of photonics in particular and STEM (Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) in general. The alliance is committed to having young people, multidisciplinary professionals, entrepreneurs and society at large, discover the potential and wonders of photonics, its impact in our daily life and the opportunities it offers professionally and to industry. Current members are located across Europe, providing the alliance a Pan-European vision, and are acquainted with working together in different projects, such as the EU projects PHABLABS 4.0, GoPhoton!, LIGHT2015 and ActPhast.
