Tech Tour Growth Awards Health 2022
Winner: Oviva is a leading digital health company specialising in evidence-based therapy for metabolic syndrome. They have treated over 200 000 patients to date in Switzerland, Germany, France, and the UK. Compared to traditional face-to-face care, their digital therapy has revolutionary better patient uptake, retention, and outcomes, addressing the core issue in care that modern behavioral change therapy is not accessed by patients in this space. Oviva won multiple awards and is part of large, national programs, for instance, the National Diabetes Prevention Programme by NHS England.
1st Runner-up: Ada is a global health company created by doctors to improve human health by transforming knowledge into better outcomes. Ada is the world's most popular symptom assessment app, with 10 million users and 20 million completed assessments.
2nd Runner-up: Quanta aims to improve the lives of dialysis patients by providing advanced hemodialysis solutions for use both in the clinic and the home. Quanta’s lead product SC+ is designed to empower dialysis patients by giving them greater flexibility, convenience, and control over the delivery of their life-sustaining renal replacement therapy.
Tech Tour Growth Awards Sustainability 2022
Winner: Sunfire GmbH, founded in 2010, develops and produces high-temperature electrolyzers (SOEC) and high-temperature fuel cells (SOFC). The electrolysis generates valuable hydrogen from water and is powered by renewable electricity. In the newest and most efficient version, it can reactivate not only water but also CO2, converting exhaust gas back to a clean raw material that replaces crude oil or natural gas. This will make the entire transport sector and many industrial processes, which today depend on oil, gas or coal, sustainable and CO2-neutral.
1st Runner-up: Ynsect is an innovative company that specialises in breeding insects on a wide scale and converting them into molecules of interest. These molecules, which are proteins and lipids, but also chitin and secondary metabolites meet the needs of animal feed markets (farmed and domestic animals), but also cosmetics and green chemistry and, in the longer term, human nutrition markets.
2nd Runner-up: Deep Branch is a carbon recycling company that uses microbes to convert CO2 into high-value products. Proton is Deep Branch first product, a nutritionally optimised single-cell protein developed to radically improve the sustainability of animal diets. Deep Branch partners with two multinational animal feed producers to co-develop Proton™-based feeds for use in aquaculture and poultry.
William Stevens, Managing Director, Tech Tour, commented:
“At Tech Tour, we believe that ambition and purpose attract investment. The Growth50 companies voted by the Selection and Leadership Panel show that world-class excellence and potential."
We congratulate the Tech Tour Growth50 Companies. Their achievements and growth potential are both impressive:
- All sectors attract significant investment - The average funding raised by Growth50 in Health and Sustainability appears not much behind the Digital leaders and shows that growth investment goes wide.
- Germany takes the lead of Growth50 funding raised - The UK tops the Growth50 list in numbers, yet Germany’s 12 companies attracted 46% of funding in the past 4 years. The Netherlands, France and Finland form the top 5 countries.
- The investment amounts increase(d) significantly - The Growth50 Companies historically raised € 8.17 B in 322 rounds yet well over half or € 4.584 was in 2021 alone at an average of € 79 M per round.

Commenting on the selection process, Falk Müller-Veerse, Partner, Bryan Garnier & Co, explained “The quality of the selection committee, combined with the rigour of the process, means Tech Tour Growth 50 is now cemented as a reference tool for all those interested in up-and-coming European tech companies. Each year, our work is becoming more difficult as there is a growing number of great European companies. It is, of course, a very nice problem to have and explains the growing appeal of the Tech Tour Growth 50 as the event and list as the best growth-stage European tech companies.”
