The flagship Tech Tour Deeptech & Defence 2024, a premier platform for connecting deeptech and defence tech innovators with leading investors, successfully wrapped up on 3-4 October 2024 in Tallinn, Estonia. The event brought together an impressive array of cutting-edge companies from Estonia, the Baltics and across Europe, as well as leading international investors. We were privileged to host inspiring keynotes from Kristen Michal, Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia, Erkki Keldo, Minister of Economy and Industry, and Allan Martinson, President of the Estonian Founders Society, setting the stage for high-impact discussions on innovation and growth in these critical sectors.

 

Out of a competitive pool of applicants, 43 companies were pre-selected by a panel of over 50 active investors, using a collaborative scouting and review methodology. These companies, ranging from emerging to growth stage, represent the forefront of innovation across deeptech and defence tech. With 80+ One2One meetings taking place, the event offered unparalleled opportunities for networking, strategic partnerships, and investments.

Innovative Leaders Shaping Deeptech & Defence

A key highlight of the event was the recognition of eight outstanding companies for their innovative solutions and compelling presentations. These award-winning companies, chosen by a jury of experts and investors, are expected to drive significant advancements in their respective fields. Below is a closer look at the companies that earned top recognition:

 

 

DataCrunch is a fast-growing AI cloud company from Finland that operates its own hardware and GPUs across three Nordic data centers. Offering highly efficient, cost-effective AI computing solutions, the company is expanding its presence as a key provider for European defense-tech.

 

OPTICS11 is a global leader in fiber optic sensing technology, offering high-performance solutions for energy and defense sectors. Their systems enhance safety and efficiency in high-voltage monitoring and underwater surveillance, delivering unmatched sensitivity and performance.

 

Innatera Nanosystems is a leading developer of ultra-low power processors for sensors, using brain-inspired neuromorphic technology to process data 100x faster and with up to 500x less energy than conventional chips. Their innovative solutions enable high-performance sensing in battery-operated devices.

 

Lendurai is developing autonomous systems for unmanned aerial vehicles, enabling them to operate efficiently without satellite navigation or radio communications in disrupted environments. Founded by experienced machine learning engineers from the tech and space industries, the company focuses on enhancing UAV capabilities in challenging conditions.

 

Scrona, a spin-off from ETH Zurich, has developed the first multi-nozzle 3D printing platform capable of sub-micrometer precision on any material at scale. Its patented electrostatic printing technology has the potential to revolutionize semiconductor and display manufacturing by reducing production steps tenfold, while cutting materials, energy, and water usagе.

 

Roseman Labs has built a breakthrough product which enables the use of sensitive data which is too sensitive to be shared. The power of AI comes with the ability to use data. We unlock the data from regulated industries such as Healthcare and Public Sector organisations to be used for statistics and for AI.

 

Salv has built a network of crime fighters that helps leading banks and fintechs disrupt criminals and recover up to 80% of stolen funds, far exceeding the industry standard of 5% in the UK. With over 60 clients and an ARR of €2.5M (Dec '23), Salv offers anti-money laundering capabilities and fincrime collaboration, led by a team of early leaders from Wise and Skype.

 

Spacedrip provides automated, closed-loop water reuse systems for industries, defense forces, and companies in water-scarce areas, enabling both potable and non-potable water reuse. Their mobile systems are unique globally and are used by multinational groups in Europe, Australia, and the USA.
