Sodium based batteries, enzyme recycling for bio-fuels, IoT for utilities, and cleaning air with microbes are among the projects honoured at the 2016 Tech Tour Cleantech Summit today chosen to present to a group of leading international investors, VCs, corporate partners and family offices in Rotterdam on the 23-24 of November.
Cleantech innovation is being adopted across many different industries and the top 40 chosen companies represent this in a variety of technological developments and applications. The City of Rotterdam which is hosting the Summit is proactively encouraging industries of the future to set up office in the city to create an even more vibrant hub for cleantech innovation.
Fredrik Adams, CEO of Firglas is heading this edition of the Tech Tour Cleantech Summit as President, and had this to say: “Cleantech touches on food, water, energy, waste and transportation; key segments of our economy. It is about resource efficiency and better quality of life to boost wellbeing and productivity, especially in cities. We have 40 dynamic companies presenting, in biotech processing, (three) in high value carbon capture, (two) in batteries and (two) scooter designers (amongst others). It’s great to see both the City and the Port of Rotterdam promoting the industries of the future at this event.”
Companies from 10 different countries across Europe applied to present at the Summit, however half of the presenting companies are headquartered in the Netherlands, attesting to an upward trend in representation of cleantech in this part of Europe. 25% of the presenting companies already have 30 or more employees and many are expected to raise investments with round sizes ranging from EUR 400,000 to EUR 30M.
